Good article in The Nation (via Andrew Sullivan).

The Democrats need to come up with plans, programs and issues that they can push. Take social security for instance. The Dems attacked the Republican plan constantly. The problem is that everyone knows that social security needs help. It's running out of money. The Dems have not provided (or haven't promoted) a social security plan of thier own. Privatizing social security is probably not the best way to help the program, but at least the Republicans are not ignoring it and hoping it goes away.
